final day

today we presented our web and dvd designs to Tony. it was really interesting to see all the other groups ideas. i noticed that our prototype was extremely simple compared to others. i thought that ours related tot he students more because of our idea of "Quick Access", getting the information needed in a matter of minutes.

one thing which our group had created that was different from the rest was an actually Flash mock up. it was great for the presentation as Tony could actually experience what the site would be like!

tuesday

today i have finalized the website. it is now been exported to Micromedia Dreamweaver. however there are still a lot of little areas that i must tidy up. little thing such as the positioning of buttons, photos etc.

as well we received the popper brief today for this whole assignment. i have found it a bit confusing since i have already started (and now nearly finished) the website. i have to now go back and change a lot of my design so it fits the brief! this is very frustrating!

web page

i have been working on the web page for our hospitality assignment for the past week. it is nearly finish but i admit it is quite simple which scares me. I'm afraid that Tony won't like my idea and finding it boring.

i need to get some help from Morgan to finalize my page

right we're back from holidays and the work load has piled up once again.
before holidays i had created a simple layout of a website in Illustrator. i thought it was nothing, just a wee play around but its actually kind of saved us!
I'm now converting the website into flash to show Tony a prototype of our idea!
Morgan couldn't make it today so were just all working together to try get the assignment narrowed down and completed!

last week of term!

This term has rolled around extremely quickly! at the moment i feel that the Hospitality assignment has been put on hold for a wee while while trying to finish off Seriously Good Chocolate. the reason for this is s.g.c is due on Thursday compared to this assignment not till next term.
every Wednesday our team still get together to see where we are all up to on the assignment. i find this good and helps me to relax a bit to know that we're slowly getting a little closer.

after holidays once everyone is refreshed i believe will get into this assignment and nail it!

friday 31st august

At the moment we have contacted Tony about what he would like to be in the dvd and website designs. So we're pretty much sorted with info, now what we got to do is start developing ideas. It’s pretty hard to start considering we don’t have any images of the kitchen or students. It may mean going up to the restaurant and taking images myself. We’ve only got three weeks till it is due and now I’m stressing a wee bit! Not sure exactly where i should be at this point! To tell you the truth I’m going around in circles!

Today I went to Mellor Training Restaurant (Otago Polytechnic Restaurant).

We got to taste the amazing, creative food made by the students by having a three course meal.

It was great. We were allowed to choose our meals from a great selection off the menu that were given out.
The service was great! Each waiter was always there making sure we had an enjoyable experience. They were very accurate with everyone’s orders and treated everyone like kings and queens.
One thing i noticed was they were immaculately dressed. They all looked so respectable for the public eye to see.

I was unable to visit the kitchen area but from the experience i had i could tell that the Mellor Training Restaurant was well organised

Thursday 26th July

Image 1 & 2: these are images from the game Unreal Tournament

On Thursday 26th July our class had a great time where it involved us interacting together. The class time was cut up into two sections. The first section involved us playing Unreal Tournament. This was a great game as it allowed us to all play against one another trying to kill as many people as possible. As a player i did get rather competitive which caused me to kill a lot of my class mates and not feeling bad for it!
After an hour of playing Unreal Tournament we walked to Laser Force. Laser Force was similar to Unreal Tournament but this time you were personally in the battle field!

As a player you had factors to deal with such as fitness level, accurate shooting and being smart about where you hide. These factors affected some players as they were unfit or became which then upset their performance. In Unreal Tournament, as a player you don't have to deal with those factors, all you needed to do was focus on finding people and killing them.
Another factor which i must mention was the difference between the two games location. Laser Force you quickly got to know the area by constantly running around the location unlike Unreal Tournament where you’re not so familiar with the location due to not personally running around it!

Overall I really enjoyed the class time being able to interact with the class and understand more on the word ‘interaction’.

Website analysis

The website which Rachel and i looked at was 'Posten-Real Postcards'. it was a website based on the user being able to write interactively with the computer to create a message onto a virtual postcard that will be printed and sent, if ordered on posten. It was a really clever idea as well as it being fun to create a virtual message.

The other web site which we analysised was the "Bob The Builder'" website which created and thoughtout well for there target audience, toddlers and yound children. The site also had an area on for parents to view as well. It informs parents about the company and what is going on, e.g: Branding history and promotions and events.
This flash is created with the uses of big bright clours, buttons and simple graphics to interact with the user. it attracks users and makes it more fun to interact!

Both websites are classic examples of an interactive site.
